There has to be a narrative behind this bespoke job, and we need to figure out what it is
Reddit user Nation Yell recently shared four photos of one of the strangest automobiles we've seen in a long time: a custom-built two-door Ford Fiesta. At first view, it appears to be Photoshop. But no, it's true. That is very wonderful.
On the one hand, it offers a solution to the very unique dilemma of wishing for the two-door Ford Fiesta that the United States never received. After all, need is the mother of invention, and if you need a Fiesta with fewer doors, here is one way to obtain it.
But who needs a two-door Fiesta so desperately that they'd go to the hassle of creating one themselves? That's a lot of effort and money for a car that's still only a Fiesta. Wouldn't a Smart ForTwo, Fiat 500, or Scion IQ suffice?
Did the owner become a touch too intoxicated one night while searching the internet and decide to make their Ford into the country's only two-door Fiesta? Have they lost a bet? Is it possible that a bear ate the rear doors? Why didn't the bear devour the front doors as well?
When I published the photographs on Jalopnik's Slack channel, everyone agreed on one thing: we need to find out who owns this item and obtain answers to our inquiries. Searching the internet for information on this vehicle produced only dead ends, however we did come across another Reddit post from someone who had spotted the identical vehicle.
Except that the post is eight years old. Eight! This automobile has been on the road for more than a decade, which is astounding. The back also says "Carleigh." Is that the name of the original owner? Does this imply that the guy who created it still drives it on a regular basis? Is Carleigh the name of the company that performed the work?
We haven't figured it out yet, but we really want to. We want answers almost as strongly as the owner wants to purchase a two-door Fiesta. Can the Jalopnik Commentariat replicate our success? Do any of you know who the owner of this automobile is, or how we might contact them?
Please let me know if this is the case. I have to work tomorrow, so I need to get some rest tonight. I don't think I'll be able to sleep until I have the answers to these questions.
