A member of the K-pop idol group Victon was arrested for drunk driving in Seoul last month and will be quitting the group
On October 11, IST Entertainment revealed that Heo Chan, 26, will no longer be a part of Victon following a discussion.
"We would like to convey our heartfelt appreciation to the fans who care about the group Victron, and would like to inform you about the following member changes," the agency added.
"After extensive deliberation with Victon, including Heo Chan, it was agreed that Heo Chan will depart the team," it continued.
"We made this decision after considering the perspectives of the members including Heo Chan, who did not want to cause any more difficulties." "Once again, we apologize for generating concern among fans with this unexpected news and beg for your patience," the agency stated.
Victon will be reorganized as a group of six members, according to the statement: Han Seung-woo, Kang Seung-sik, Im Se-jun, Do Han-se, Choi Byung-chan, and Jung Soo-bin.
Except for Han Seung-woo, who is serving in the military, the "2022 Victon Fan Concert [Chronicle]" slated for Oct. 15 and 16 and following dates will be performed by five members.
On September 20, Heo Chan was arrested for driving under the influence after meeting with friends. The Gangnam police are looking into him.
"I genuinely apologize for giving unpleasant news ahead of several deadlines." "I apologize once more for provoking a social scandal on September 20 as a result of my improper conduct," Heo Chan wrote on Instagram.
"Even though I should have taken greater responsibility for my conduct as a public figure who should be an example to the public and supporters, it caused significant disappointment due to a mistake in a moment," he said.
"I am truly reflecting, and I spend time every day with regret and self-blame," he stated.
"I will live with profound reflection in my heart in order to store all the criticisms and reprimands for irrevocable deeds in my heart, and to become a person who is not embarrassed of myself in the future," Heo Chan added. I respectfully bend my head and apologize for provoking controversy once more."
"Heo Chan plans to take a sabbatical from his team and solo activities beginning today," according to IST Entertainment.
