There is no rule that says a DOG cannot anticipate the future
Spy x Family by Tetsuya Endo is a fantastic animation with a diverse array of characters. Loid Forger and Yor Briar are a spy and assassin posing as husband and wife, and their adoptive daughter Anya is the only one who knows their secrets due to her telepathic abilities. The show succeeds in part because the Forgers manage to pass as an ordinary family despite the fact that all three of them are clearly abnormal, and some of the show's best moments occur when the facade of their ordinary life collides with the heightened reality of either Loid or Yor's secret professions.
With the upcoming adaptation of the manga's "Puppy Crisis" arc, the collision will occur once more. When Loid's agency finds a plot to assassinate a minister, the spy is summoned just as the Forgers are out looking for a dog to round out their typical family image. Anya eventually decides on a beloved dog who happens to glimpse the future, and the young girl takes it upon herself to try to save her papa's life.
With a premise like this, you'd think it'd be better suited for an anime film, but Spy x Family is just regularly Like This. The new arc of episodes looks as exciting as the show did when it first launched earlier this year, with a new opening song in Bump of Chicken's "Souvenir." With some anime suggesting enormous stakes or bloody mayhem for the fall season, something like this can be a great, silly palate cleanser.
Spy x Family will return on October 1 with new episodes.
