The Department of Transportation specifies the regulations for international visitors to enter the country
THE DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM (DOT) reminded international travelers visiting the Philippines on Friday, February 4, 2022, to prepare the necessary documents to guarantee a smooth travel experience.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Puyat made the announcement following the release of Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution 160-B, which details the new entry, testing, and quarantine protocols for foreign nationals arriving from 157 visa-free countries beginning February 10, 2022.
"The new IATF standards show that, while the nation has opened its borders to fully vaccinated business and leisure tourists, it is doing so with the highest care and complete consideration for the health and safety of both visitors and the general public," Puyat said in a statement.
Guidelines for Tourist to enter the Philippines
All visiting guests must be able to show the following documents, according to IATF –EID Resolution 160-B:
- Acceptable vaccination proof
- Negative RT-PCR test results obtained after 48 hours of departure from the country of origin / initial port of embarkation in a continuous voyage to the Philippines, omitting layovers for their return journey.
- Valid tickets for their return travel to the port of origin or next port of destination must be purchased within 30 days of their arrival in the Philippines.
- Passports valid for at least six months at the time of entry in the Philippines
- Travel insurance from reputable insurers for Covid-19 treatment costs, with a minimum coverage of US$35,000 for the duration of their stay in the Philippines.
Only fully vaccinated foreign tourists would be permitted access into the nation, according to Puyat. Children under the age of 12 will be excused if they travel with properly vaccinated foreign parents.
Unvaccinated foreign children under the age of 12 traveling with their Filipino parent/s will be granted access and will be expected to undergo the same entry, testing, and quarantine requirements as their Filipino parent/s.
Meanwhile, individuals aged 12 to 17 must adhere to the guidelines based on their vaccination status and must be accompanied by their parents during their facility-based quarantine.
According to the resolution, a person is considered completely vaccinated if he or she got the second dose of a two-dose series or a single dose vaccination more than 14 days before the date and time of departure from the site of origin.
While international tourists would not be compelled to undergo facility-based quarantine, Puyat encouraged arriving passengers to maintain self-monitoring and to notify to their destination's local government unit if they display any of the virus's symptoms.
"The reopening of our borders to qualified international tourists and the recovery of the tourism industry can only imply the restoration of the livelihoods of millions of Filipinos who have been displaced by the epidemic who work in tourism-related facilities and enterprises." It will make a significant contribution to the ultimate resuscitation of the Philippine economy," Puyat remarked.
