Things you are doing, that gets your Barista Annoyed, and Please don't do any of these
Aside from being a "Karen" here are some things that do might be doing that gets your Barista Irritated.
- Throwing a cup of coffee unfinished. This is not only wasteful, but it's also disrespectful to the barista who made your drink. If you don't like your coffee, please tell the barista so they can make you something else.
- Not specifically telling what you want. This can be frustrating for baristas, as they may have to ask you multiple questions to get your order right. If you know what you want, please be specific.
- Changing your order in the middle of preparation. This can also be frustrating for baristas, as they may have to start over from scratch. If you know you're going to change your order, please let the barista know before they start making your drink.
- Ordering while on the phone. This is rude to the barista and to the other customers in line. If you need to be on the phone, please step aside and order when you're finished.
- Not considering closing hours. If you come into a coffee shop 10 minutes before closing, please be respectful of the baristas who are trying to close up. Don't order a complicated drink or take up a lot of time.
Here are some things you can do to be a good customer to your barista:
- Be polite and respectful. This goes a long way.
- Be patient. Baristas are often under a lot of pressure, so please be patient with them.
- Be understanding. If there's a wait, please don't get angry.
- Be prepared. If you know what you want, please have your order ready when you get to the counter.
- Tip well. A tip is a nice way to show your appreciation for the barista's hard work.
By following these tips, you can help make your barista's day a little bit better.
