Visit a National Park for FREE on 2023

Here's when you may visit any National Park for FREE next year
With over 400 national parks spread across the United States, trying to see them all may grow expensive. While some are free, around a quarter charge between $10 and $20 per person to attend, which can quickly add up for a family. However, if you intend on visiting the parks next year, there are various days when everyone may enter for free.

What days are available in 2023 for visiting National Parks?

In 2023, the following days will be free for everyone to visit any National Park:
  • Jan. 16: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • April 22: First day of National Park Week
  • Aug. 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
  • Sep. 23: National Public Lands Day
  • Nov. 11: Veterans Day
Keep in mind while planning your visits that these are the parks that charge admission. To be extra smart, visit one of these parks on free days and keep the parks that are always free for another time. However, keep in mind that the free days do not cover any additional activities that you may participate in while within the park, such as camping, boat launches, transportation, or special excursions.

Senior citizens, current members of the military, families of fourth-grade students, and handicapped residents are also eligible for free or subsidized National Park entry all year with the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass. On their website, you may check your eligibility.

Check out the National Park Service's "Find Park by State" map to see which parks you want to visit. If you decide to take a road trip to a park, this is where you can plan the ideal route to visit many parks and find accomodation.
