The latest DC Films trailer has big appearances by Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone
With Black Adam only a few weeks away, it was about time for another trailer to hit the internet. This new trailer portrays the upcoming film in a far different light than earlier teasers. Yes, Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is in the spotlight, but the Justice Society—the superteam entrusted with bringing him in—is also on show.
Previously released trailers and clips included Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher. But you get more than just a glimpse here. You get to see their entire world and how Black Adam intends to completely destroy everything. Examine it out.
So let's analyze this. In this DC Universe, the same one where Batman assembled the Justice League and resurrected Superman, there is a Justice Society with its own X-Mansion and Blackbird. They've certainly been around for quite some time. And, during a Q&A on the Warner Bros. lot earlier this week, Hodge confirmed that Hawkman has been around for thousands of years and has a long friendship with Doctor Fate. We also discovered that Cyclone and Atom Smasher both came from heroic families. So there's a lot of backstory here.That is, of course, where Black Adam enters the picture. According to the teaser, he's been sleeping for 5,000 years. He appears to have a lot to figure out now that he's back in the DC Universe.
Aside from the peculiarity of its canon, this trailer has a lot more visual effects and massive set pieces than the previous two. It gives you a feeling of how huge and sprawling filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra is going for with this film.
