Baliwag, Bulacan could became a CITY on January 2023

It's in the hands of Baliwag Residents if they want their town to be the 4th Component City of Bulacan
The plebiscite to certify the municipality of Baliwag's conversion to a component city of the province of Bulacan has been scheduled for January 14, 2023.

The town's people will be able to vote on whether to approve or reject the measure, according to Resolution No. 10834, which was made public on Wednesday.

"As a result, the Commission on Elections now sets January 14, 2023 as the date of the plebiscite to validate the conversion of the Municipality of Baliwag in the Province of Bulacan into a component city to be named as the City of Baliwag," the poll authority stated.

The plebiscite will take place between December 14, 2022 and January 21, 2023, according to the resolution.

During this time, it is illegal to bear or carry firearms, maintain a strike force, suspend local elected officials, or transfer or detail civil service employees.

The information and campaign period, on the other hand, is slated from December 14, 2022 to January 12, 2023.

During this time, barangay assemblies, fora, or "pulong-pulong" are permitted, but defacing, tampering with, or obstructing the distribution of lawful plebiscite propaganda is forbidden.

The polls will open at 7 a.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m.

Following the close of voting, the counting of ballots shall begin immediately, followed by canvassing of votes and announcement of results.

The plebiscite is being held in accordance with Republic Act 11929, which became law on July 30.

The statute states that "the Comelec shall conduct and monitor such plebiscite, and the expenses for such plebiscite shall be borne by the Municipality of Baliwag."

If the law is passed, Baliwag will join San Jose del Monte, Meycauayan, and the province capital, Malolos, as the fourth component city of Bulacan.
