Unexpected English Release for Cruisy Japanese Summer Game. Nintendo Switch and PS4 users can soon play "Crayon Shin-chan: Summer Vacation"
Earlier this year, Crayon Shin-chan: Ora to Hakase no Natsuyasumi, a video game, was made available in Japan for the Nintendo Switch (Crayon Shin-chan: My Summer Vacation With The Professor). It appeared to be calm, casual, laid-back, and everything you'd want from a game with an emphasis on, well, a summer vacation. It was a crossover between the renowned manga Crayon Shin-chan and the long-running My Summer Vacation series of video games.
Here is the 2021 Japanese release trailer:
It seems wonderful, no? The main series' director Kazu Ayabe oversaw this game as well, and the inclusion of more modern graphics—the first game was on the PS1, and the most current on the PSP—only enhanced the aesthetic appeal. We all just kind of thought that this would be a Japan-only release, like every other game in the main My Summer Vacation series, but it turns out we were all inadvertently wrong—in the nicest way.
Crayon Shin-chan: Ora to Hakase no Natsuyasumi is now coming to the PlayStation 4, and it's also being translated into a variety of Western languages, including English, but also German, Spanish, and Portuguese. This news was made public earlier today.
Enjoy the atmosphere of summertime in Japan. The sound of cicadas echoing through the mountains and the soothing babble of brooks as they wind through the vegetation can be heard as you stroll under the open air. It's an encounter that will make you long for the summers in Japan right away.
On the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, Crayon Shin-chan: Ora to Hakase no Natsuyasumi will be released internationally in August.
If you're curious about how these games function, they revolve around a child playing during the summer break. You stroll through a peaceful town, converse with locals, partake in various minigames, and basically laze around. According to the new English-language website for the game:
