Apple is reportedly giving raises to retail employees in order to keep them from leaving

According to a recent source, the salary raises vary from 2% to 10% and apply to salesmen, Genius Bar tech assistance, and some senior hourly staff
In an era of the Great Resignation and a tight labor market, it makes sense for firms to assess and improve the perks they provide to their employees, especially when that company is the most valuable in the world.

According to a recent Bloomberg article released on Friday, it appears that the lights has gone off at Apple. According to the article, the tech behemoth was giving increases ranging from 2% to 10% to its U.S. retail workers, which included salespeople, Genius Bar tech support professionals, and certain hourly employees. According to Bloomberg, not all employees will receive a wage raise. This week, Apple began telling shops and individual employees of the news, implying that not everyone affected has been notified.

According to Bloomberg, the hikes will go into effect this month. Notably, these raises are distinct from Apple's yearly wage modifications and increases, which are typically implemented in October. If accurate, the adjustments are another another evidence of Apple's reaction to the changing reality of the employment market, as well as a likely attempt to address retail workers' grievances. In the United States, the corporation has over 270 retail outlets.

According to Bloomberg sources with knowledge of the situation, the salary hikes targeted staff who worked at Apple Stores before the epidemic began in 2020. Furthermore, the hikes are intended to bring the earnings of more senior employees on pace with those of fresher employees.

Gizmodo reached out to Apple on Saturday to confirm the salary hike rumor, but had not received a response by the time of publishing. If we receive a response, we will update this story.

Apple's alleged compensation hikes come just days after Bloomberg reported that the firm will provide greater perks to both full-time and part-time retail employees. The improvements, which Apple verified to other media sites, will treble the number of sick days available to staff and boost their annual vacation days. Part-time employees will now be entitled for up to six paid vacation days and six weeks of paid parental leave for the first time.
