Adam Sztykiel, a writer, has been contracted to bring DC's extraterrestrial twins to HBO Max
When it appears like a Wonder Twins film may become a reality, it is OK to doubt reality. But, sure, you are alive and reading this, and Warner Bros. has engaged someone to develop and direct a film based on DC Comics' Wonder Twins.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adam Sztykiel, a writer on Black Adam who also authored Due Date, Rampage, and Scoob! has been engaged to bring Zan and Jayna to HBO Max, rather than the big screen. It's where several DC characters will make their debuts, including Batgirl and, for a while, Blue Beetle, but that picture has since been pushed to theatrical release.

Zan and Jayna are extraterrestrial twins who are famed for touching hands and shouting "Wonder Twin powers—activate!"", which transforms Jayna into a beast and Zan into water. It's strange and wacky, fitting nicely with The All-New Super Friends Hour, when the characters first appeared in the late 1970s. With runs on Teen Titans Go! in recent decades, the pair has gained some notoriety. and Smallville, but that goofy element has always been a part of their appeal.

It's unclear where Sztykiel will take them, but based on his previous work, it seems like a safe bet that there will be humor and plenty of self-awareness. There must be. But, even so, how does that fit into the wider, more expansive DC Universe? Will the Wonder Twins and Ezra Miller's Flash share the same timeline? Or, like Matt Reeves' forthcoming The Batman, might they carve themselves their own niche?

That will be determined by the passage of time. But for now, we're astonished that such a seemingly strange and odd pair of DC characters will be appearing on a screen near you. Hopefully, it won't be performed by Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
