For Safer, Faster and more Convenient way of payment

GCash, a mobile wallet, and Alfamart, a supermarket chain, have partnered to provide a secure and convenient payment mechanism in the latter's retail network.

Customers of Alfamart can now safely pay for their transactions using GCash, according to GCash.

As a result of the collaboration, the new GCash barcode payment system is now accessible at nearly 700 Alfamart locations.

The new GCash payment option will also be available in more Alfamart locations soon.

"GCash and Alfamart share the same goal of providing all Filipinos with safety, convenience, and security, especially during these challenging times." "We hope to encourage the communities we serve to choose these digital cashless choices in order to reduce the need for physical contact while prioritizing the health and safety of our valued clients during the epidemic," GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon said.

According to GCash, the contactless payment option is safer, faster, and more convenient for Alfamart customers who buy basics like as fresh meat, poultry, veggies, and food-to-go.
Customers just simply log into their GCash app, select Pay QR and Generate Barcode, and present the GCash barcode to the cashier for scanning.

"Serving the underserved has always been our philosophy, so we're always looking for ways to reach as many clients as possible," Alfamart Philippines COO Harvey Ong explained.

"With GCash being a popular payment method, even in the most remote regions," Ong added, "we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with them — to provide our residents with a safe and trustworthy payment alternative while shopping for their daily requirements at their nearby Super Minimart."

This year, Alfamart, a joint venture between SM and Alfamart Indonesia, plans to grow its retail reach to over 1,200 outlets.

Meanwhile, as of the end of October, GCash had over 51 million subscribers.

"We've more than doubled our user base now, with active users logging in more than twice every day." This means a lot to us since it demonstrates that our software is now a part of our users' daily lives," Sazon explained.
