The Silence (2019) from Netflix - Movie Review

Another movie that run around in a QUIET surroundings.
The Silence is an about a family surviving their everyday lives, while a killing monsters lurking outside.

They called those monsters as “VESPS” a medium like creatures came from the underground, which accidentally discovered, and release in the upper world. Vesps has no eyes to see, but they have a very sensitive hearing, which they can navigate around or detect they prey.

Meanwhile, Ally Andrews lost her hearing when she was 10 years old from an accident. She just communicate with sign language and lip reading with her love ones.
They took off from their house to go to some safe place, but when they found a shelter, a group of HUSHED cult keeps on planning to get Ally with them.

We cannot help but to compare The Silence with the release movie with the same genre called A Quiet Place. Both have to keep their noises down, uses sign language to communicate, and both have a Monster that is killing the sound source.

Maybe Netflix release The Silence to comply with another movie Bird Box, so that subscribers will have the complete genre of this kind of Movies, and maybe there will be another movie, because there still more Basic Human Senses, like Hearing,  Touch, Smell, Taste, and Touch, We just don’t know how will they do it.

Here are some questions we have after watching the movie The Silence:
  • Why did the leave their own house? Why they cannot just stay in their Home and be Quiet as the News in the TV says?
  •  Does the Old Lady with a Big House leaves alone and didn’t know about the monsters? She goes out at night pointing a shot gun, and yelling, “Get out of my Property”, pertaining with the Andrews Family
  • In the 1st half of the movie, they are just using sign language and a very low voice coming out from the actors, a very hard to watch without subtitles. However, in the 2nd half, they are now whispering, maybe they just realize it just then.
  • There is a scene when Hugh open and operate a Wood Shredder, to keep the monsters away from his family, the monsters headed to it and eats them alive. So why didn’t Hugh leave it on, to kills those Monsters, or what the Government is doing to kills those creatures? 
  • Another scene is where they went to a Pharmacy to get medicine. Both Hugh and Ally are trapped with just only 3 Vesps, Both of them agreed to lit up a floor mop to activate the fire alarm to distract the Vesps, but after that no swarming Vesps headed to that Pharmacy, just like in the 1st part of the movie, where just a continues gun shot heard in the woods, or just a Cellphone Ringing.
There are many Questions left in this movie without a very clear explanation, like who is that Reverend without a tongue and the Hushed cult, who wants to kidnap Ally?

There is also the last scene where a Vesps is arrowed down by Ally, together with Rob, with narrating Voice Over saying that, if Vesps are Evolving, and so as Humans. Looks like they are attacking and surviving for a long time after the first incident. Maybe there is a sequel for this movie.
