World of Final Fantasy Review

Its like Collecting Pokemon the Final Fantasy way.

World of Final Fantasy is a role-playing video game developed by Tose and published by Square Enix. It is a spin-off of the Final Fantasy franchise, featuring characters from across its mainline and supplementary entries.

The game takes place in Grymoire, a world of coexisting Final Fantasy locations. The story follows siblings Lann and Reynn, who possess the power to tame monsters called Mirages, and are sent to Grymoire to reclaim their lost memories and thwart the plans of the Bahamutian Army.

The gameplay revolves around turn-based battles which utilize the series' recurring Active Time Battle system, augmented with a stacking mechanic where stacking allied characters and monsters affects statistics and abilities.

The game was released in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and was later ported to Windows in 2017. An updated version, World of Final Fantasy Maxima, was released in 2018 for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

The game received generally positive reviews, with many praising its aesthetics and stacking mechanic, but criticism focusing on its slow pace and storyline.

Here are some of the key features of World of Final Fantasy:

  • A colorful and stylized world that combines elements from across the Final Fantasy franchise.
  • A unique stacking mechanic that allows players to combine characters and monsters to create powerful attacks.
  • A turn-based battle system that is both familiar and innovative.
  • A cast of memorable characters, both new and familiar.
  • A vast and expansive world to explore.
If you are a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise, or if you are looking for a unique and challenging JRPG, then World of Final Fantasy is definitely worth checking out.
