How Hackers and Scammers Hide their Phone Numbers when Calling

Your real phone number will never be revealed to the person you're calling?
There are times when you might want to hide your phone number from the person on the other end of the call. Maybe you're calling a telemarketer and don't want them to have your number. Or maybe you're calling a potential employer and don't want them to know your number until you're ready to share it.

Whatever the reason, there are a few ways to hide your phone number on Android and iPhone. Here are three methods:
  • Hide your number on your device. Both Android and iOS devices allow you to hide your Caller ID. To do this on Android, open the Phone app and go to Settings > Supplementary Services > Calls and Additional Settings. Toggle the "Show Your Caller ID" setting to "Never." To do this on iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Show My Caller ID and toggle the setting to off.
  • Block your number using a star code. This method has been around for decades. To block your number using a star code, simply press *67 before the phone number you want to call. When the other end receives your call, they will see "Unknown Number" or "Unknown Caller" instead of your name and number.
  • Hide your phone number through your carrier. This method is the most complex, but it will ensure that your number is hidden from everyone, not just the person you're calling. To hide your number through your carrier, contact your customer service department and ask them to activate a blocking setting for your account.
It's important to note that even if you hide your phone number, some organizations, businesses, and emergency services will still be able to see it. This is because they have access to special databases that track phone numbers.

If you want to be completely anonymous when making phone calls, you can use a calling app like Google Voice or Burner. These apps allow you to create a virtual phone number that you can use to make calls and send text messages. Your real phone number will never be revealed to the person you're calling.
