Tesla app that allows Tesla owners to control their vehicles using Siri and the Apple Shortcuts app
This update offers a convenient way for Tesla owners to interact with their cars through their iPhones. Users can now utilize Siri voice commands and Shortcuts to perform various actions on their Tesla without needing to open the Tesla app.
The update includes 20 specific Tesla commands that can be integrated into Shortcuts and triggered through Siri or the Shortcuts app. These commands cover a range of functions, including controlling climate settings, locking/unlocking the car, opening/closing doors and trunks, activating features like Camp Mode and Sentry Mode, adjusting media volume, and more.
Additionally, the flexibility of Apple's Shortcuts app allows users to create custom automation sequences, called macros, that can involve multiple actions across different apps. This means you could set up personalized shortcuts that go beyond the predefined Tesla commands. For instance, you could create a shortcut that plays a specific song, adjusts the temperature, and provides navigation to a particular location—all triggered with a single Siri command.
It's great to see how technology continues to evolve, making interactions with vehicles more seamless and user-friendly.
Here are the steps on how to set it up:
Make sure you have the latest version of the Tesla app and the Shortcuts app installed on your iPhone.
- Open the Tesla app and tap on the Settings icon.
- Tap on Shortcuts.
- Toggle the switch next to Enable Shortcuts.
- In the Shortcuts app, tap on the + icon to create a new shortcut.
- Tap on the Apps icon and select the Tesla app.
- Select the Tesla command that you want to add to your shortcut.
- Tap on the Next button.
- Give your shortcut a name and tap on the Done button.
Once you have created your shortcut, you can activate it by saying "Hey Siri, [shortcut name]".
Here are some examples of Tesla commands that you can add to your shortcuts:
