Apple has officially announced the iPhone 16e, a new low-cost addition to its smartphone portfolio that blends quality capabilities with economy. According to Apple's newsroom, the gadget will be available for pre-order on February 21, with a release date of February 28, providing buyers with a powerful alternative for a starting price of $599.
The iPhone 16E, powered by Apple's A18 chip, features a 6.1-inch OLED display with Face ID and Apple Intelligence, a personal AI system that enhances user experience. Notable features include a 48MP Fusion Camera with 2x optical-quality telephoto zoom, an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, a customizable Action Button, and support for emergency SOS and roadside assistance via satellite. The device is available in matte black and white finishes with storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.

It offers dual camera functionality in a single lens, supporting Night and Portrait modes with HDR technology for true-to-life skin tones. Video capabilities include 4K Dolby Vision recording at 60 fps and Spatial Audio support. The device also offers advanced audio editing features through Audio Mix, allowing users to adjust sound focus and reduce wind noise using machine learning algorithms.
Powered by Apple's latest A18 chip, offering significant performance improvements and enhanced power efficiency. Its 6-core CPU is up to 80 percent faster than the A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11, enabling smooth performance for everyday tasks and demanding Apple Intelligence features. The device also incorporates Apple's first in-house designed C1 modem, improving power efficiency and faster 5G connectivity. The iPhone 16e offers the best battery performance ever in a 6.1-inch iPhone, with up to six hours more usage time compared to the iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours more than previous iPhone SE models.
Priced at $599 and comes in three storage configurations: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. It will be available in 59 countries, including the US, India, Japan, and the UK. Pre-orders start on February 21, 2025, and devices will be available on February 28, 2025. Apple also offers optional silicone cases in five vibrant colors.
