Please, however, do not trespass or take bits of nature without permission
Do you want to spend less money on Christmas decorations this year? Along with recycling (or repurposing) items from prior years, you may update your holiday décor with a little help from nature. Here's everything you need to know.
How to Decorate for the Holidays using Natural Items
To begin, a few ground rules. If you're lucky enough to possess a home with a yard, feel free to take everything you want. City people and anyone who lack access to nature should not trespass on private property or remove items from parks. They can, however, invite friends and relatives who have trees and yards to come over and assist them clean up their land (i.e. forage for holiday decorations).
Anyway, here are a few suggestions:
Branches that are evergreen
Evergreen tree branches are the most visible—and versatile—of the natural decorations, and may be used for everything from garland to tablescapes, wreaths, and foliage surrounding a nativity scene. Set a few sprigs in a transparent glass bottle, wrap it with a ribbon or twine, and place it wherever in your home that may need a little tidying up.
Are there no evergreen trees in your area? If you live near a Christmas tree pop-up on the street, in an empty lot, or in a parking lot, ask the vendor if they have any broken branches they want to get rid of, or if you have permission to pick up those that are already on the ground.
Pinecones
Pinecones, another winter favorite, may be utilized in a variety of ways, including filling a bowl and using it as a centerpiece, making decorations, or gluing them together to make a wreath.
Branches and sticks
Put a few twigs in a vase or glass jar, just like evergreen branches, for fast Christmas decor. If you come across any longer, reasonably flexible sticks, bend a couple into a circle shape, fasten them, and then add some greenery, possibly a pinecone, at the bottom to construct a wreath.
