Everyone in California now has access to Digital License Plates

The trial program has concluded, and it is now available to the general public
California was the first state to launch a test program for digital license plates, but it is now available nationwide to anyone who wants one. Because to a recently passed statute (AB-984), everyone in the state of California will be able to use a digital license plate.

There is only one business from which you can get a digital plate: Reviver. As of today, Reviver reports that around 10,000 California vehicles are using its plates as part of the pilot program. That number will probably rise as word spreads about the new law allowing anyone to acquire them.

If you haven't seen or heard of Reviver's digital plates before, they employ a monochromatic HD display that can be switched between light and dark settings (black or white background). They're battery-powered, with a five-year battery life claimed by Reviver, but if you're a commercial customer, Reviver provides a hardwired alternative that utilizes power from the vehicle's 12-volt battery.

Why would you desire one? The most important cause is most likely aesthetics. Perhaps you prefer the monochrome look for your vehicle over the other accessible plate designs. You can also write a personalized message that appears on the bottom of the plate. "Renewal" can be configured to occur automatically, so your digital display shows the year and month that your registration is valid for — no sticker required. According to Reviver, their plates can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit.

Family services and alerts, stolen car reporting and recovery spot, tolling system integration, vehicle diagnostic and maintenance alerts, extra DMV transactions and parking and other payment services integration are among the features Reviver says are on the way.

How much would all of this set you back? As of present, you may only subscribe to the plate for $19.95 per month for 48 months. A four-year subscription costs $215.40 if you pay in one lump sum. The hardwired commercial plate costs $24.95 per month or $275.40 over four years. The plate's professional installation costs $150.
