The Destiny 2 Fortnite Skins Have Leaked Ahead Of The Big Lightfall Reveal

Sony and Epic's free-to-play shooters are collaborating
According to a recent datamine leak, Destiny 2 will collaborate with Fortnite. The new cooperation comes on the heels of speculations that Bungie's loot shooter may finally make its way to the Epic Games Store, as well as a massive Destiny summer showcase at GamesCom.

Ginsor, an experienced Destiny 2 dataminer, announced the new crossover on Twitter on August 20. It featured what looks to be official artwork of a Titan, Warlock, and Hunter wearing new cosmetic armor that appears to be inspired by Fortnite's Black Knight, Drift, and Omega skins. It's unknown whether or not the cooperation will go beyond these three costumes, or how Destiny characters will transition to Fortnite. But that hasn't prevented some players from fantasizing about Cayde-6 coming back to life simply so he can be murked by a kid who then does the Griddy over his corpse.

Bungie and Epic Games did not reply quickly to requests for comment.

The alleged Fortnite crossover is just one of several recent Destiny disclosures. New information has also emerged regarding the alleged poison category known as "Strand," which is expected to be included in the Lightfall update. And datamines indicate that the renowned Kings Fall raid from Destiny: The Taken King will return in Season 18.

Much of the leaked information and more is likely to be confirmed at Destiny 2's big showcase on August 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET ahead of Geoff Keighley's GamesCom Opening Night Live news presentation, which kicks off Europe's largest gaming convention. Bungie will preview the future of its live service shooter, including the next large expansion Lightfall, as well as some possibly bigger structural changes to the underlying game, in addition to Season 18 going live at that time (please get rid of power, please get rid of power). It will also be the first presentation since Sony purchased the studio for a whopping $3.7 billion.

Nothing, however, will be as surprising as Bungie's confirmation of the crossover with Fortnite. Many members of the Destiny community appear to be genuinely pleased about the partnership. So far, the Warlock cat ears look to be the most popular, closely followed by the Hunter's Omega set, which already contains hints of Genji from Overwatch. Most gamers appear to be pleased to have a fresh set of reasons to harass all of their Fortnite pals to join them in the blackhole of loot known as Destiny 2.
