Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, the Ultimate Crossover
Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, or simply Secret Wars, is a 12-issue American comic book crossover limited series that was released by Marvel Comics from May 1984 to April 1985. Written by Jim Shooter, the comic book's artwork was created by Mike Zeck and Bob Layton.
If Joe and Anthony Russo ever return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they would like to adapt the iconic crossover storyline Secret Wars from Marvel Comics. The Russo Brothers also emphasized that it would require a tremendous amount of work to put together a worthy version of Secret Wars in an interview with Deadline during the red carpet premiere of their most recent movie, The Gray Man.
To direct Captain America: The Winter Soldier, perhaps the best film in the Captain America trilogy, the Russo Brothers entered the MCU. The Russo Brothers returned to helm Captain America: Civil War as a result of the picture's positive reception from both audiences and critics. When it came time to end off the "Infinity Saga" with the two-part epic tale shown in Avengers: Infinity War and Avenger: Endgame, the pair gained control of the whole MCU.
We are all thrilled at the notion of the two returning for another significant crossover event because The Russo Brothers are among the most important MCU filmmakers. Additionally, based on appearances, the Russo Brothers have given the proposal considerable thought as well. Joe Russo responded to the query of which Marvel narrative he would like to work on next:
"We say the same thing, our love for Marvel is based on the books we read as kids and the books that we fell in love with. The one series that we adored growing up was Secret Wars. It's incredibly ambitious – it would be bigger than ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’ – it's a massive undertaking and those two movies were really very hard to make. So trying to imagine making another two movies even bigger than those two, we're gonna have to sleep on it."
They portray it as wishful thinking, although the adaptation already has a two-film concept. Secret Wars was published in 12 issues between 1984 and 1985 and was written by Jim Shooter with illustrations by Mike Zeck and Bob Layton. The Russo Brothers returning to the franchise to adapt the plot—the first crossover event in Marvel Comics history—would give fans a significant amount to look forward to in the coming years.
A cosmic entity called the Beyonder observes the mainstream Marvel universe. Fascinated by the presence of superheroes on Earth and their potential, this entity chooses a group of both heroes and supervillains and teleports characters against their will to "Battleworld", a planet created by the Beyonder in a distant galaxy. This world has also been stocked with alien weapons and technology. The Beyonder then declares: "I am from beyond! Slay your enemies and all that you desire shall be yours! Nothing you dream of is impossible for me to accomplish!"
The heroes include the Avengers (Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Iron Man, the She-Hulk, Thor, the Wasp, and the Hulk), three members of the Fantastic Four (Human Torch, Mister Fantastic and the Thing), solo heroes (Spider-Man and Spider-Woman) and the mutant team the X-Men (Colossus, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Professor X, Rogue, Storm, Wolverine, and Lockheed the Dragon). Magneto is featured as a hero, but immediately becomes non-aligned when the Avengers question his presence. In 2015, Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars revealed that Deadpool was also a chosen hero, but the Wasp accidentally caused the other characters to forget his involvement.
The villains include the Absorbing Man, Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, the Enchantress, Kang the Conqueror, Klaw, the Lizard, the Molecule Man, Titania, Ultron, Volcana, and the Wrecking Crew. The cosmic entity Galactus also appears as a villain who immediately becomes a non-aligned entity.
