How to Watch the 2022 Winter Olympics Online

You can watch the top athletes in the world battle for gold in Beijing, but you'll have to pay
You'd be excused for thinking the Olympics had just finished—the delayed summer Olympics, postponed from 2020 owing to the epidemic, were just six months ago!

But now it's winter in the northern hemisphere, and the conditions are ideal for athletes to fling themselves down massive ski slopes. I'm sure there are some ice skating fans out there as well. Where else can you see glittering tutu-clad gymnasts on ice? You can watch the Winter Olympics from home if you want to be a part of the excitement.

Here's how to use applications on your smartphone or TV to access the games.

When Will the Winter Olympics Be Held?

The Winter Olympics began on February 3 and will end on February 20. They are being held in Beijing, China, the site of the Summer Olympics in 2008. If you were there at the time, you probably remember Beijing's national stadium, the Birds Nest.

NBC has the sole broadcasting rights to the Olympics until 2032. If you want to see replays or live footage, you'll have to stick to its applications. You can check a helpful schedule to know when you should tune in, and you can even tailor it to filter out games you don't like.

If you don't pay for live TV, your best chance for watching the Olympics is to subscribe to Peacock Premium for $5 per month. You'll have access to the opening and closing Ceremonies, NBC's nightly primetime summary of the games, complete replays of all contests accessible shortly after they finish, and even special daily content.

Peacock will give access to four Olympics-specific shows with highlights and interviews, including The Olympics Show and Olympic Ice, both of which are must-sees for ice skating lovers. You can find out more about the other shows on NBC Sports.

If you don't want to pay for Peacock, you can still get Olympic news, recaps, and highlights for free. Just don't expect to be able to pick and choose which games to watch when.

You may watch the Peacock app on your smartphone or your preferred set-top box or smart TV, such as Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, or Google TV, as well as on consoles such as the Xbox One S and PlayStation 4.
What if I already have a subscription to live television?

What if I already have a subscription to live television?

If you have standard pay-TV at home, simply tune in to NBC or NBC Sports for live Winter Olympics programming beginning every night at 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, commencing at 7 p.m. ET. Sundays at 5:00 p.m. ET USA Network will also transmit all 15 Winter Olympics sports, while CNBC will show curling and ice hockey.

If you have a different subscription, such as YouTube TV, Sling TV, or Hulu Live, you may stream coverage by logging in through the main NBC Olympics page on your browser. I connected to YouTube TV using my Google account and watched the opening ceremony with only one ad break. As the Ukrainian Olympic team completed their loop around the stadium, I noticed Russian President Vladimir Putin dozing in the grandstand. That is the true reason you tune in to these live events.

Through that connection, NBC will offer you a half-hour access to their streaming broadcast, so you could always utilize that for part of the opening ceremony if that's all you're interested in. Otherwise, if you're interested in the Olympics, you may as well set aside some money this month to get your fix.
