Here's How to Watch the Super Bowl LVI Online

Even if you don't have access to broadcast or cable TV, you may watch the Bengals and Rams on Feb. 13
The Super Bowl LVI kicks off on February 13 at 6:30 p.m. ET. EST (3:30 p.m. PT). Because of the still-rising omicron wave, you have two days to figure out how to watch the game online if you don't have live TV or don't feel comfortable watching at your favorite local drinking spot.

Fortunately, NBC is hosting a live stream of the game online, which you can watch on a variety of devices—but you must pay to access it. You'll need to sign up for NBC's Peacock Premium streaming service, which costs $5 per month or $10 if you don't want extra ads (there is a free version of Peacock, but it does not include live sports). You can cancel your subscription after the game, and paying $5 for an app is faster and easier than cobbling together an antenna setup or begging friends and family for cable passwords to watch the game last-minute.

The official Peacock stream will also include every moment of the Bengals versus Rams game, the entire half-time show, and every Super Bowl commercial. While streaming quality is dependent on your internet connection, and the game will most likely not look as good as the HDTV broadcast, Peacock's offering is likely to be more reliable than illegal streams—and, more importantly, free of malware-ridden ads. (To ensure the best possible viewing experience, connect your devices to your internet router via ethernet cable rather than WIFI.)

The only other reason people might look for a bootleg stream is if their ISP has blocked their region. If this occurs, install a reputable VPN and connect to a proxy server to mask your IP address and circumvent region locks.

How to Watch Super Bowl LVI Online

This year, there are a few options for watching the 2022 Super Bowl, and the best option will depend on which devices you have access to.

Web Browser

The most direct way to watch is through your web browser. Simply go to Peacocktv.com on the day of the game, sign in with your existing account (or create a new one), and press play on the video stream once it's live. This stream should be compatible with all major web browsers for Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS, and mobile devices.

If you want to watch on your TV in this manner, simply connect your computer to your TV via an HDMI cable and switch to the appropriate video source on your TV—but make sure you create your account and test your setup ahead of time to ensure you have the proper cables on game day.

The Peacock app

Another option is to download the Peacock app to your device(s) and watch from there. The app is available for the following platforms:
  • Android, as well as Android TV
  • Apple TV
  • Fire tablets and Fire TV
  • iPadOS and iOS devices
  • Roku
  • Models of smart TVs to consider
  • PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 video game consoles
  • Consoles Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
Sign in after installing the app from your device's app store (or create a new premium account if you need to). The stream will not be available until the day of the game, but it's a good idea to install and load the app to ensure it works properly, and make sure your devices are properly connected via HDMI or screen casting if you plan to watch on an external TV or monitor.
