The Story Before The Resident Evil: Requiem

Resident Evil: The Story So Far

🧟 Prepare for the Horror: 'Resident Evil Requiem' Pre-Orders Are Live! 💀
Welcome, fans of fright! Today we're unveiling the next terrifying chapter in the Resident Evil saga: Resident Evil Requiem. The nightmare arrives on February 27th, 2026, and we're thrilled to announce that pre-orders begin today!
To prepare you for the horrors ahead, we've created a special briefing—a look back at the terrifying legacy that brought us to this moment.

A Look Back: The Seeds of Terror

The Resident Evil saga began with a discovery in Africa: the Progenitor Virus. This discovery led to the founding of the infamous Umbrella Corporation by researchers, including the immensely wealthy and ambitious Oswell E. Spencer. While posing as a pharmaceutical company, Umbrella's true purpose was the advancement of virus research and bioweapons development, all driven by Spencer's vision to reshape humanity.

Years later, the T-virus—developed by James Marcus—leaked from a research facility in Raccoon City, American Midwest, in 1998. This triggered an unprecedented pandemic, mutating the city's residents into flesh-eating zombies and unleashing terrifying B.O.W.s (Bio-Organic Weapons).

The Survivors and the aftermath.

Only a handful of brave souls managed to escape the Raccoon City incident:
  • Rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy
  • College student Claire Redfield
  • S.T.A.R.S. agent Jill Valentine
Fearing further spread, the U.S. government launched a sterilization operation, destroying Raccoon City. Although the mounting evidence eventually drove the Umbrella Corporation into bankruptcy, its sinister legacy lived on.

The survivors' stories were just beginning. While some, like journalist Alyssa Ashcroft, sought to expose Umbrella's darkest secrets, others hunted the bioterrorists who weaponized the research, and some pursued the truth behind the government's sterilization operation. The aftershocks of Raccoon City continue to be felt, coinciding with increasingly frequent bioweapon-related outbreaks.

The Winters' Nightmare: A First-Person Terror

The bioweapon crisis touched an ordinary man, Ethan Winters, who was searching for his missing wife, Mia. His quest led him to the terrifying Baker estate in the bayou, where he faced a deranged, infected family in an immersive first-person horror experience.

Three years later, Ethan faced a new nightmare when his baby daughter, Rose, was taken by the legendary hero, Chris Redfield. This search led him to a mysterious, treacherous village ruled by Mother Miranda and the Four Lords.
💡 Did you know? Mother Miranda shares a deep connection with Umbrella founder Oswell E. Spencer, and an insidious force known only as The Connections played a key, albeit mysterious, role in the village incident.
