As a coffee lover and frequent visitor to Starbucks, I'm excited to share with you the latest developments from Starbucks Japan. Starting February 15, 2025, the company will introduce location-based pricing in approximately 30% of its 1,991 stores nationwide. But don't worry, this change aims to provide customers with a richer experience, and I'm here to break it down for you.

Location-based pricing is a strategy where prices vary depending on the store's location. In Starbucks Japan's case, they'll be introducing two new price categories: "Specific Location Price A" and "Specific Location Price B.". These prices will apply to stores in service areas, airports, and some stores in the 23 wards of Tokyo and Osaka City.

The average revision rate for these prices will be approximately 6% for "Specific Location Price A" and 4% for "Specific Location Price B.". The revision amounts will range from 13 yen to 32 yen (excluding tax) and 4 yen to 28 yen (excluding tax), respectively.

Here's the exciting part: Starbucks Japan will offer soy milk beverage products for free at all stores! This change applies to both iced and hot beverages. The company is also considering making almond milk and oat milk free of charge in the future, taking into account procurement situations and environmental impact.

Don't worry, coffee lovers! The popular "One More Coffee" offer, which offers a second cup of drip coffee (including Cafe Mist) at a special price, will remain at its current prices in all stores. Beverage customization prices will also remain unchanged.

Starbucks Japan aims to provide customers with a richer experience and better understand the characteristics of their location and commercial area. By introducing location-based pricing, the company can reflect the unique costs and conditions of each store. Additionally, by offering free soy milk and considering other plant-based milks, Starbucks Japan is committed to reducing its environmental impact and achieving resource positivity.

As a coffee enthusiast, I'm excited to see how these changes will enhance my Starbucks experience in Japan. How about you? Share your thoughts on these changes and what you're looking forward to trying!
