Who says gaming can't lead to success? Niele Shem Bañas, a self-confessed gaming enthusiast, proved that with determination and hard work, anything is possible. This electronics engineer recently topped not one, but two licensure exams: the October 2024 Electronics Technician Licensure Examination (ECTLE) and the April 2024 Electronics Engineering Licensure Examination (ECELE).
Bañas's journey wasn't without its challenges. The Technological University of the Philippines—Visayas graduate admitted to being addicted to League of Legends, which affected his academic performance. However, he refocused on his studies in his fourth year of college and went on to achieve academic excellence.
His impressive achievements include achieving top scores in the TUP Visayas mock board exam, ranking first in all major exams in his review center, winning the national quiz bee for ECEs, and becoming the champion of Brodkast ng Talino.
Despite the pressure to stay on top, Bañas felt relieved and accomplished after acing both licensure exams. "It feels like my journey as an electronics student has been completed, and I can focus on my career now," he shared.
Bañas aims to pursue electrical engineering and physics, expanding his expertise and career opportunities. His story serves as a reminder that with perseverance and passion, anyone can overcome obstacles and achieve success.
