The Miss Philippines Pageant wants to focus on Voice, Influence and Passion
The Miss Philippines organization has decided to not have a swimsuit competition in their pageant. They explained that they want to shift the focus to other qualities of a woman, such as her voice, influence, and passion for promoting Filipino culture and heritage.
Here are some of the reasons why they made this decision:
- Swimsuit competitions can be objectifying and can contribute to unrealistic beauty standards.
- They want to focus on the contestants' intelligence, personality, and other qualities that make them well-rounded individuals.
- They want to promote a more inclusive pageant that welcomes all women, regardless of their body type.
The Miss Philippines organization is not the first to make this decision. In recent years, several other pageants have also chosen to do away with swimsuit competitions, including Miss America and Miss USA.
This is a positive step towards a more progressive and inclusive pageant industry. It is important to remember that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and that women should not be judged solely on their appearance.
"It’s not that we have anything against swimsuits. In fact, we will hold photoshoots at our world-famous beaches and resorts. But onstage, we’d like to shift the focus on things other than a woman’s vital statistics. The Miss Philippines is a platform for a woman’s voice to be heard, for her influence to be felt, and for her passion to promote Filipino culture and heritage be amplified.
We’ll have an exciting Runway Segment where the spotlight will shine on each of our proud candidates. The Miss Philippines.
Join us in a reinvented pageant for Filipinas from all over the world.
