The death of Shanquella Robinson is heartbreaking. Will She Receive Justice?

The death of the 25-year-old is shrouded in mystery, and her family is demanding answers.
Shanquella Robinson and six pals flew to San Jose del Cabo on October 28. Her parents claim that they stayed at a rental property in Fundadores, a gated neighborhood. Robinson's parents told ABC station WSOC-TV that they found out their daughter had died barely a day after she arrived.

"They said she wasn't feeling well, that it was alcohol poisoning," the victim's mother, Sallamondra Robinson, recounted. However, ABC News received Robinson's autopsy report and death certificate from the Mexican Secretariat of Health. The cause of death was listed as "severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation," with no mention of alcohol.
Furthermore, the record, dated November 4, states that the interval between injury and death was 15 minutes. The item that asked if the death was "accidental or violent" was checked. According to the paper, Robinson was discovered unconscious in the living room of a residence on Padre Kino Avenue, near Fundadores Beach Club, on Oct. 29.

"It's like a nightmare," Shanquella Robinson's father, Bernard Robinson, told WSOC-TV. I can't even fall asleep. I'm simply annoyed. As a father, my heart is breaking. "All I want is the truth because this doesn't add up."

A video (which The Root has not authenticated) of a woman purportedly assaulting Robinson has been circulating online in recent days. Robinson's mother stated that the persons in the video were friends of her daughter who accompanied her on the vacation to Mexico. She also thinks the video was shot during the trip. However, the location and timing of the footage are now unknown.

"There was never a fight." She didn't fight back. "They assaulted her," Sallamondra Robinson told WSOC-TV. "She did not deserve to be treated like that," the State Attorney General's Office of Baja California Sur said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the investigation into Robinson's murder will continue.

Also on Wednesday, the United States The Mexican Embassy in Mexico City notified ABC News that its personnel "are aware of Shanquella Robinson's death and are providing consular services to her family."

Despite the many unanswered concerns about what happened to Robinson, her family is demanding justice. "By the grace of God, I believe I will be able to solve this." God will not fail. "It'll come out," her father said. "I'm not going away." "I am confident that I will have peace of mind."
