These are the greatest muscle vehicles available, in no particular order
We can all agree that muscle vehicles are great, right? However, while huge engines and short quarter-mile speeds are strongly engrained in American automotive culture, they might appear foreign to outsiders.
As someone with the unique viewpoint of being "an outsider," or "an alien" if you're the United States Department of Homeland Security, I've combed through the muscle car archives to select my favorite models from the category. These aren't in any particular sequence; they're simply 15 fantastic automobiles that I wish I'd seen when I was younger.
Are there any muscle car icons you believe I've overlooked? Please share your thoughts in the comments box below.
Ford Mustang 1964
This is the automobile that got it all began for me, and it's still one of my dream cars. Growing up, there was a white coupe identical to the one depicted above rotting away in a garage on my paper route. I think I once calculated how many newspapers I'd have to deliver in order to afford one, and it was quite depressing.
Pontiac GTO 1965
This 60s icon's front end is what keeps it on my list; it just looks amazing as heck. A drive out with that gorgeous face, a vinyl roof, and a soundtrack by The Supremes would make Owen very happy.
Dodge Charger Daytona 1969
The Dodge Charger Daytona, designed to win NASCAR races, is famous, and I adore it. A massive, ludicrous engine; a massive, ridiculous wing; and a vibrant, outrageous paint job. What more could a muscle vehicle possibly offer?
Cadillac CTS-V Wagon 2014
A muscle car coupe or convertible may seem cool, but there are occasions when you need to transport more items. That's where Cadillac's 2014 CTS-V wagon comes in. This fantastic station wagon is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 556 horsepower. That'll suffice.
Dodge Super Bee 1969
This piece of American muscle debuted in 1968, based on the mid-size Dodge Coronet. It could be bought with a 6.3-liter V8 as standard, or insane folks could upgrade to a 7.2-liter monster with 425 horsepower.
Ford Gran Torino 1976
My parents were huge Starsky and Hutch fans, so the 1976 Ford Gran Torino with its white swoosh has to be included. As a police car, it is unfeasible, but it looks amazing on film.
Shelby Mustang GT350 1965
There are no clear winners here, but this is my personal favorite. If I ever win the lotto, I'm going to buy a blue or red Shelby GT350... If I win the lotto, I'll take one of each!
Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat 2022
Hearing a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat rattle by me on my way to work still makes me jump.
Plymouth Road Runner 1968
Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift deserves credit for introducing me to the Plymouth Road Runner. Its brief cameo with Dom at the wheel near the end of the film is just *chef's kiss.
Chevrolet El Camino 1970
You do not need to possess a pickup vehicle unless you are a laborer. Unless it's a vintage El Camino. In that case, go ahead and pick up!
Dodge Charger 1970
Dodge reached its pinnacle with the second-generation Charger, which was refined in its last year: 1970. The gaping chrome front end resembled a blinged-out whale shark, and the 7-liter Hemi engine sounded like an angry god.
Chevrolet Camaro SS 1967
The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro is a stunning vehicle. Something about the line from the tip of its hood to the top of its tail appeals to me.
Ford Mustang 2015
I appreciate the current Mustang because it does a nice job of paying respect to the original while simultaneously creating its own path - and that appears to be the case with the next generation. However, because to all of the American flags and USA badges adorning this Apollo-spec Mustang from 2015, it appears to be peak muscle vehicle.
HSV Coupe 2002
You know, other places can build muscle vehicles as well. So here's a magnificent Holden from those insane Aussies. This high-performance Holden Monaro had a Chevrolet V8 engine and a bizarre pair of bonnet scoops.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage 1977
Long hood, V8 engine, and fast in a straight line. If these are the characteristics of a superb muscle vehicle, then the 1970s Aston Martin V8 Vantage surely qualifies. Because of its more severe design and superb engine note, I believe it is still my ideal Aston Martin.
