Good News, SIM Card registration Bill could now be a Law
One of the way to prevent Fake Booking, Prank Calls, Scamming by using Text Messages or SMS, is to register the SIM of who is the owner.
Now that Congressmen of the House of Representatives approves the SIM Card Registration with the 3rd and Final reading.
The Bill we require all purchase of SIM Cards especially Prepaid SIM Cards to be registered. The Seller will require Valid ID with photo upon purchase, and fill up the form Control-Numbered Registration form.
All of the existing Prone Numbers will be given 6 months to register from after the law has been implemented. An extension can be given of not longer than 4 months, provided with a valid written request to the Department of Information and Communications.
In case you lost your SIM Card, you should inform your Service Provider within 48 hours.
Direct Sellers and Retailers are required to submit the Control-Numbered Registration form to the Mobile Service providers within 15 days from the date of the purchase of the SIM Card.
While Telecommunication Companies or TELCO need to keep the Registration and Information of their Subscribers.
Information must be kept by Telcos and not to access, unless:
- With subscribers written consent
- Under Court's order
- Law Enforcers' request
Telecommunication Companies must submit a verified list of authorized SIM Card Sellers across the country every 3 months.
