Lisa, 24, a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, has tested positive for coronavirus illness (COVID-19)
"BLACKPINK's Lisa was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the afternoon of November 24," claimed YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's agency, in a statement given to the media.
The three other members of BLACKPINK, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé, have not yet been classified as close contacts, but as soon as Lisa was informed that she tested positive for COVID-19, they underwent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and are currently awaiting the results, according to YG Entertainment.
According to the agency, "we transmitted the relevant information swiftly and accurately with officials and took aggressive preventative actions beyond the guidelines of health authorities."
"We will continue to support the wellness of our artists and staff members." "If anything changes in the future, we will notify you quickly," it added.
The three other members' itineraries are expected to be canceled because they underwent PCR tests and went into self-isolation. Rosé was set to attend a jewelry brand's pop-up store event on November 25 but opted against it, according to Korean media.
Lisa's positive COVID-19 test result coincided with an increase in the number of coronavirus illnesses in South Korea.
On November 24, a total of 4,115 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in South Korea, a 52 percent increase from the previous day's total of 2,699 new cases. In South Korea, there have been 425,064 confirmed cases.
