After the expansion of the airport, Camiguin is ready to welcome visitors.
The island province of Camiguin's lone airport will now be able to triple the number of passengers it receives.
According to the Department of Transportation, the island, which is known for its beaches and springs, is set to welcome tourists on Oct. 25. (DOTr).
The Department of Transportation announced on Facebook on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, that the Camiguin Airport had been upgraded, with the Passenger Terminal Building expanded to accommodate at least 200 passengers, up from 66 previously.
The inauguration of the improved airport will be led by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Jim Sydiongco on Friday, Oct. 22.
Tugade will also dedicate the airport's administration and fire station buildings, as well as the finished runway slope.
Not only will the airport upgrade boost tourism and investment in the province, but it will also improve connectivity in northern Mindanao.
