Bachelor of Science in Esports!!
We are weeks away from reaching one of the biggest milestone in Philippine esports history. In the recent years, multiple universities around the world have opened their institutions to esports courses and as one of the biggest esports market in Asia, this is Philippines' turn to take that leap.
In partnership with LPU, Tier One Entertainment is finalizing the drafted curriculum for a four year program called Bachelor of Science in Esports. The 4 year course will have two tracks for students to choose from its either game design or esports management. I can't disclose the full subjects yet but we are 80% done.
This is a dream come true for me as I personally believe that a proper support system is one of the strongest foundations for success and once the academe finally accepts this industry, I truly believe that the support from families of gamers will follow. I'm calling all the gamers out there to be ambassadors of our esports dream and help us educate the non-believers about the real potential of the gaming industry in order for the enrollees' parents to agree to take this course.
To the future students of this course, this is a golden opportunity to show our society that gaming is not a waste of time. I'm giving you a heads up that this course is not going to be easy, it's not going to be just about fun and games. I've been in this industry for too long to understand that it takes more than passion in order to achieve what you want to achieve in this field. You need hardwork, sacrifice, skills, professionalism and many more.
I also want to take this time to personally ask all the future enrollees to please take every subject seriously and learn whatever you can learn from the experts of the industry. We'll do our best to push this industry forward but we need more help. Study hard, train hard. We need you. See you in 4 years!!
I want to thank the family behind the Lyceum University of the Philippines yesterday Javier Laurel and Paolo Laurel for believing in this endeavor and of course my good friend John Gonzales who made this connection possible. We will be passing the eSports curriculum design to CHED on march 4. Wish us luck!
